This is my final column as Coordinator of SIG 7. I have been fortunate to complete 5 years of service on the Coordinating Committee, with 3 of those being in the position of Coordinator of our SIG and it has been a rewarding experience. Given the size of our SIG (we are among the smallest SIGs within ASHA) we are relatively active group. As the SIG Coordinator I had set two primary goals for myself. The first one was to ensure that SIG 7 was well represented within ASHA. Specifically, as a SIG we want to make sure that ASHA's Board of Directors, Elected Officers, and National Office personnel request our subject matter expertise in any issues concerning AR. As SIG 7 coordinator, over the past years I have been consulted on many occasions concerning AR issues. For example, feature articles on AR that appeared in ASHA publications were either authored by an affiliate of SIG 7 or a member of the Coordinating Committee was consulted on an article. In 2011, SIG 7 was represented on the planning committee for the 2011 Audiology Online Conference on Adult AR. Several SIG 7 affiliates were actively involved in organizing the program for the conference. Every year, at least one SIG 7 coordinating committee member is invited to sit on the AR committee of ASHA's conference program committee. Finally, ASHA's National Office personnel regularly seek advice from SIG 7 coordinating committee members on professional issues in the area of AR. I leave the Coordinating committee confident that SIG 7 plays its role within ASHA.
