When you settle down to read the Coordinator’s Column for this of Perspectives on Aural Rehabilitation and Its Instrumentation, you will have the opportunity to share J-P’s personal perspective on three generations of research in AR. Interestingly, our authors for this issue represent three generations of AR professionals demonstrating clearly that we can learn from those who are in the peak of their careers, from retirees, and even from graduate students who have interests and expertise to share!
I know you will enjoy David Hawkins’ retrospective thoughts on the changes in our field throughout his career in audiology as well as his hopes for the future of the profession. David’s career has been as varied as one could hope to have in audiology. Nonetheless, it is clear that he has always viewed himself as a clinician at heart. That internal commitment has also always been evident in his teaching and in his research. Given his broad perspective, his thoughts on the importance of comprehensive AR services warrant serious consideration.
